.GEORGE ROBINSON is the author of Essential Judaism: A Complete Guide to Beliefs, Customs and Rituals (Pocket Books, 2000). He writes regularly for Jewish Week (NYC); his "Jewish Sounds"
column appears regularly in Jewish Week, the Jewish Journal of Greater Los
Angeles, the Detroit Jewish News and Jewish newspapers in Connecticut, New Orleans
and Vancouver. Mr. Robinson was a contributing writer on The American Jewish Desk Reference (Random House, 1999)In 1993 he received a Simon Rockower Award for excellence in Jewish journalism
from the American Jewish Press Association. Robinson is a former president
of the congregation of Beth Am, the People's Temple, a Reform synagogue in New
York City. He has lectured extensively on Jewish matters. For six years,
he wrote a weekly sports column for United Feature Syndicate's TV Update, which
appeared in over 100 newspapers. His first book, On a Clear Day They Could See Seventh Place: Baseball's Worst Teams (co-authored with Charles Salzberg), received widespread acclaim. Under another hat,
he has written for Newspaper Enterprise Association, Newsday and The New York
Times on film and was Senior Contributing Editor to the Blockbuster Entertainment
Guide to Movies and Videos for five years. |
